When you need to know how to clear the Google Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Microsoft Edge and Internet Explorer browsers' cookie cache, read the following article. Cookies are pieces of data saved in your browser that tell you what content you access most, such as ads, auto-completion information, and some types of text.
Steps
Method 1 of 9: Removing Cookies in Chrome (Computers)
Step 1. Open Google Chrome by double clicking on its icon

Step 2. Click ⋮
in the upper right corner of the browser; a dropdown menu will appear.
Step 3. Later in this section, select More Tools and a pop-out menu will appear
Step 4. Click Clear Browsing Data…, one of the first options, to open browsing preferences in a new window
Step 5. The option “Cookies and other website data” must be selected; all others can be unchecked if you like
Step 6. From the drop-down menu, you can set the time interval for deleting cookies
Choose Entire period, if not already the default option, to remove all browser cookies, not just recent ones.
Step 7. Click Clear Data in the lower right corner of the window to delete all cookies
Method 2 of 9: Removing Cookies in Chrome (Mobile Devices)
Step 1. Open Google Chrome by tapping its icon

Step 2. Select ⋮
in the upper right corner of the screen.
Step 3. Choose History from the drop-down menu
Step 4. Tap Clear Browsing Data… in the lower left corner of the screen
On Android, tap “Clear browsing data…” at the top of the page
Step 5. The option “Cookies, website data” must be selected; if it is not already checked, tap on it
On Android it is called “Cookies and Website Data”
Step 6. When using an Android device, you can choose a period of time to delete cookies by tapping the drop-down menu
; it is in the upper right corner of the screen.
Choose “All period”.
Step 7. Select Clear Browsing Data at the end of the alternatives
On Android, tap “Clear Data” (bottom right corner of the screen)
Step 8. Choose Clear Browsing Data to delete cookies from Chrome
This option is replaced by “Clean” on Android
Method 3 of 9: Removing Cookies in Firefox (Computers)
Step 1. Open Firefox by double clicking on its icon, a blue globe with an orange fox around it
Step 2. In the upper right corner of the browser window, click ☰ so that a drop-down menu appears
Step 3. One of the first options should be Library; select it to open the menu of the same name
Step 4. Click History
Step 5. Choose Clear recent history… at the top of the dropdown menu; another window will appear
Step 6. Click on “Time to clear”, and another drop-down menu will appear
Step 7. Select All to remove all Firefox cookies
Step 8. Check the box next to “Cookies” in the middle of the window
If this option is already ticked, skip this step
Step 9. Click Clean Now at the bottom of the pop-up window
Method 4 of 9: Removing Cookies in Firefox (iPhone)
Step 1. Open Firefox by tapping its icon (an orange fox around a blue globe)
Step 2. In the lower right corner of the screen, tap ☰ so that a pop-up menu appears
It may be necessary to move the screen up or down a little for the icon to appear
Step 3. Tap Settings
Step 4. Scroll down the screen and choose Clear Private Data in the “Privacy” section
Step 5. Tap the white "Cookies" button
which will turn blue, indicating that it is now possible to delete the browser's cookies.
If it's already blue, skip this step
Step 6. Choose the button with red letters at the bottom of the screen, the Clear Private Data
Step 7. Choose OK to remove Firefox cookies from your iPhone
Method 5 of 9: Removing Cookies in Firefox (Android)
Step 1. Open Firefox by tapping its icon (an orange fox around a blue globe)
Step 2. In the upper right corner of the screen, select ⋮ so that a drop-down menu appears
Step 3. Now tap Settings to open a new window
Step 4. Choose Clear Private Data to open another menu
Step 5. Select Clean Now at the top of the page; a pop-up window will appear
Step 6. Check the “Active Cookies and Logins” box, more or less in the middle of the window
If she already has a tic on the side, skip this step
Step 7. At the bottom of the window, tap Clear Data to immediately delete Firefox's cookies
Method 6 of 9: Removing Cookies in Microsoft Edge
Step 1. Open Microsoft Edge by double clicking on its icon (a white “e” on a blue background, or a navy blue “e”)
Step 2. Click ⋯ in the upper right corner of the Edge and a drop-down menu will appear
Step 3. Enter Settings
Step 4. Choose the Choose what to clear option in the “Clear browsing data” section in the middle of this menu
Step 5. Make sure “Cookies and Saved Website Data” is checked
This option will clear Edge's cookies; deselect all others if you like.
Step 6. Under the various data types, click Clear to delete them
Method 7 of 9: Removing Cookies in Internet Explorer
Step 1. Access Internet Explorer by double clicking on the browser icon (a light blue “e” with a yellow ring around it)
Step 2. Click on “Settings”
in the upper right corner of the browser.
A drop-down menu will appear.
Step 3. Towards the end of this menu, click on Internet Options
Step 4. Click Delete… in the “Browsing History” section in the middle of the menu
Step 5. The option “Cookies and website data” must be checked to remove cookies
All others are optional.
Step 6. Click Delete at the bottom of the window to delete Internet Explorer cookies
Step 7. After choosing OK, you will exit the “Internet Options” menu and the cookies will be removed
Method 8 of 9: Removing Cookies in Safari (Computers)
Step 1. Open Safari by double-clicking its icon (a blue compass), Mac Dock, or Windows "Desktop"
Step 2. Click on the Safari menu in the upper left corner of the browser; a drop-down menu will be displayed
Step 3. At the top of it, select Clear History…; a pop-up window will open
Step 4. Click on the drop-down menu at the top of the window
Step 5. Choose All History, allowing the browser to clear all stored cookies and website data
Step 6. Click Clear history and all cookies, search history and website data will be deleted from Safari
Method 9 of 9: Removing Cookies in Safari (Mobile Devices)
Step 1. Open the “Adjustments” app on the home screen
The steps below also work on iPad and iPod Touch
Step 2. Scroll down and tap Safari
Step 3. Near the bottom of the new page, choose Clear History & Website Data
Step 4. Tap Clear History & Data to erase all information stored in Safari
All iPhone search history will also be removed. To delete cookies only, tap “Advanced” at the bottom of the page, then “Site data”, “Remove all website data” and “Remove now”
Tips
- It's a good idea to clear cookies after using a computer that is public or sharing with someone else.
- Delete cookies once every two to three weeks for browsers to function normally.
- There are some cookies, like those stored by Google Chrome, which will not be deleted when cleaning from “Settings”. They are harmless and will not interfere with navigation.
