Do you need a fake belly that is not too expensive and can be mounted quickly? So keep reading! This article will also serve you if you want to look like seven or eight months pregnant.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Wearing a Helmet
Step 1. Choose a helmet that will serve as a fake pregnancy belly
Do not wear helmets that have face shields as they will make your stomach feel awkward. A bicycle helmet is probably your best option, as they come in different shapes. Try out the available models and see which one will create a convincing belly.
Step 2. Apply masking tape over the helmet to hide the grooves
The idea is for the belly to be flat, so apply as many layers of tape as needed. When finished, the grooves should be completely gone.
Step 3. Attach or remove the helmet straps
If you don't plan on using it for anything else, cut the handles carefully using sharp scissors. This can be a waste of a good helmet, however! Fit the straps into it and secure them with masking tape, making sure they don't hang under the fake belly.
Step 4. There are a few ways to fix the belly to the torso
You can even try mixing some of the methods below for best results, after all, you don't want the belly to move or fall out.
- Wrap an elastic athletic bandage several times around the helmet and your back. Use as many layers as necessary to make your belly flat when you're dressed.
- Secure the helmet with masking tape.
- Put some strapless bikinis over the helmet to keep it in place.
Step 5. Wear a T-shirt that complements the fake belly
If it's too tight, the awkward shape of the belly can draw attention. Choose a looser shirt.
Method 2 of 3: Using Two Blankets
Step 1. Choose two blankets that are medium in thickness and size
They should be the size of regular blankets – not as big or as thin as sheets and not as thick as fleece comforters or blankets. The blankets will be the bulk of the fake belly.
Avoid fringed blankets as they will create an awkward look for the belly
Step 2. Fold the first blanket into a diamond shape
This will be the outer layer of the belly, which will be used to create a smooth look and to add dimension.
- Stretch the blanket over the floor or a wide, smooth surface such as a bed or table.
- Carefully move each corner of the blanket toward the center until they all touch. Remember doing open-close origami'' when you were a kid? Imagine you are making the first fold with the blanket.
- The result should be either a diamond or a square, depending on the shape of the blanket. Don't worry if the square isn't perfect – it doesn't matter.
Step 3. Wrap the second blanket to create the thickest belly
It shouldn't form a perfect circle, but it should be a little wider to mimic the shape of the pregnancy. Keep the sides flat and smooth and hide the edges on the other sides. Make the outside flat so that people don't notice your belly is made of blankets!
Step 4. Fold the first blanket around the second
By combining them you will add dimension to the belly, but remember to make it believable. Do this carefully so that the belly doesn't fall apart after a few minutes.
- Place the second blanket in the center of the first.
- Take the four outer corners of the first blanket (not the four gathered in the center) and fold them over the second blanket, creating a cover around it.
- Secure the ends with masking tape, using a sufficient amount so that they do not come loose.
Step 5. Secure the blankets to the trunk
You can follow the same basic procedures as the helmet method.
- Wrap an elastic athletic bandage several times around the blankets and your back. Use as many layers as necessary to get the belly flat.
- Secure the blankets with masking tape.
- Put some strapless bikinis on top of the blankets to keep them in place.
Step 6. Put on a T-shirt over the fake belly and you're done
Even though the blankets don't have the helmet slits, the belly can still get deformed if you can't flatten it completely, so it's a good idea to wear a loose-fitting shirt.
Method 3 of 3: Using a Beach Ball
Step 1. Choose an appropriately sized beach ball
They can be found in a variety of sizes, so choose one that isn't too big or too small. A "standard" ball will work well for this project.
Step 2. Fill the ball halfway
Blow into the mouthpiece and don't let the air out until it is 3/4 full. You can adjust it according to your desired size for the belly.
If you want a giant belly, fill the ball completely. This will look completely ridiculous, but it might be the idea you want to get across with the costume
Step 3. Secure the ball to your torso
You can use elastic bandages, strapless bikinis or tank tops. Since the ball isn't as heavy as the helmet or blankets, it shouldn't be too difficult to keep it in place – a bikini or tight tank top should do the trick.
Point the air nozzle down. It will be noticeable if it is facing outwards or upwards, and if it is facing you, your skin will be irritated and sore after a while
Step 4. Wear a loose shirt over your stomach and you're done
With this method it may be possible to wear a little tighter outfit! Try it out and see which outfit works best.
Tips
- Watch how pregnant women walk, sit, and crouch.
- If you really want to convince someone that you are pregnant, print an ultrasound found on the internet and visit children's stores.
- Walk with a swagger and keep your legs spaced. As you sit, spread your legs.
- Pat your belly often and smile. (Don't just do this when others are looking to be convincing.)
- Remember the belly when sitting and bending down.
- Apply a little blush (dark bronze-red) to the face and arms as pregnant women experience changes in skin color.
