Lost the key for the wheel safety screws? Here is a way to remove them without using it. Save money on a winch by following these steps.
Steps
Step 1. Make sure the key for the safety screws is not in the glove compartment, dashboard, trunk or under the seat
It could also be under the steppe.
Step 2. Remove the set of sockets and see which one will fit the screw
A 12-point socket is the best fit. This is a special model made to remove these screws.
Step 3. Use the socket one number below the one that fits best and place it on the screw
Step 4. Use a mallet to hammer the socket into the security screw
Step 5. When you have hammered the socket into the security screw, use the wrench to remove the screw
Step 6. Repeat if necessary
Tips
- Do not hit the wheel that holds the tire.
- Call a dealership to get the key to the security screws if yours have never been removed. During bonding, ask if the site has a master set of wheel bolts so you can order the correct one. If they were purchased later, you will need to find a way to remove them.
