Have you lost your keys? Did you finally put electronic locks? Either way, you might need to reprogram your keyless remote. Especially on General Motor cars, this process can be a bit confusing. Here's a simple guide to programming your GM keyless remote.
Steps

Step 1. Close all vehicle doors

Step 2. Insert the key into the lock cylinder; do not press the ignition button

Step 3. Squeeze and hold the door release device (door, NOT control)

Step 4. While holding the door latch in the “Unlocked” position, turn the ignition on and off three times

Step 5. Release the door lock knob
The door will lock and unlock once to confirm that the programming mode is activated.

Step 6. Simultaneously press and hold the “Locked” button on the door and the “Unlocked” button on the remote control for approximately 15 seconds; the doors will lock and unlock once to confirm transmitter programming

Step 7. Repeat the previous step to program up to four transmitters

Step 8. Turn the ignition switch to the “ON” position (one more click forward) to exit the transmitter input mode

Step 9. Tweak the transmitter functions to find out if the system is working properly
Tips
On some models, the first programming made on your remote control will refer to driver number one, and the second to number two
Notices
- The process described above does not seem to work for the Pontiac G6 on the 2005, 2007 or 2008 models.
- Some models may require removal of the security system or other fuses.
