Read this article to learn how to add a valid payment method to your Apple ID and get a premium subscription to the Apple Music service. Once you've updated your way of receiving with a credit, debit or PayPal card, it's just a click away to listen to music at will. Anyone who has multiple billing methods associated with their Apple ID will be able to move the one they want to use to the top of the list, making it primary.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Using iTunes on Desktop Computers
Step 1. Open iTunes on Mac or Windows
The program's icon is a purple and blue musical note inside a white circle, and can be found in the “Start” menu (Windows) or in the “Applications” folder (Mac).
As the Apple Music subscription will be tied to the Apple ID, this step will work for iOS and Android devices as well
Step 2. Click on the Account tab at the top of the screen
Profile options will appear in a drop-down menu.
- At the Mac, the button will be in the menu bar at the top of the screen.
- already in the Windows it is found in the upper area of the iTunes window.
Step 3. Choose Login… from this menu
Sign in with your Apple ID.
Step 4. Enter email and password according to the Apple ID you want to use, as it will be linked to your Apple Music subscription
Click once more on “Login…”.

Step 5. Find the blue Manage Payments button
Enter “Account…” and then “View My Account…”. You will see all information related to your Apple ID. The “Manage Payment” option will be in blue in the first section, the “Apple ID Summary” on the right.
Step 6. Click Add… so that a new field appears
In it, you will be asked to enter the new payment method.
Step 7. Provide your basic credit card information
Choose the type (debit or credit) and fill in its number, validity and security code. Also inform your CPF or CNPJ and telephone number.
- Accepted cards are VISA, MasterCard, Elo or American Express.
- In Brazil, it is not yet possible to use PayPal on iTunes. If you are in a country where the digital wallet is supported, such as Canada, USA, Israel or France, choose “PayPal” and click “Sign in PayPal” to link the account to the Apple ID. This will allow you to use PayPal to pay through iTunes and apps, including Apple Music.
Step 8. Enter the billing address
In addition to the address registered to the card, the user will need to enter the full name to validate the new payment method.
Step 9. Choose Done at the bottom right corner of the form
The new receiving method will be validated and added to your Apple ID.
- Now, just sign in to Apple Music using the new payment method.
- You will return to the “Manage Payments” page.
Step 10. Place the pointer over the payment method you want to use (optional)
When there is more than one saved shape, you can reorder them and make any one the primary.
- When you move your pointer over the payment method, you will see blue arrows pointing up and down to move it up or down in the list, respectively.
- Your purchases and subscriptions, including Apple Music, will be paid for with the Apple ID credit card or balance at the top of this list.
Step 11. Click the blue up arrow
and the method will be placed up.
Remember that the one you want to use for the subscription needs to be first on the list.
Apple will bill you using the means in the order specified by the user. New purchases and subscriptions will be charged to the first card (or Apple ID balance)
Method 2 of 3: Using iPhone or iPad
Step 1. Open the “Settings” menu
of the iOS device.
On the home screen or in an app folder, find and select the gray gear icon to enter “Settings”.
Step 2. Tap on your name, which should be at the top of “Settings”
Next to it should be the image you defined. The Apple ID menu will open.
Step 3. Choose Manage Payments or Payment and Delivery, in the “Apple ID” menu.
You will now see preferences for paying for all purchases and downloads.
If prompted, enter your Apple ID password and tap “OK” to continue
Step 4. Tap Add Payment Method at the top of the “Manage Payments or “Payment & Delivery” page
All options will open.
Step 5. Choose Credit or Debit Card in “Payment Method”
With this, you can add any card, whether debit or credit, to make purchases and contract subscriptions.
- If you are in a country where PayPal is used by Apple, tap “PayPal” and then log into your account. PayPal's digital wallet will be linked to your Apple ID and can be used for in-app and iTunes purchases.
- Once you've added a valid payment method, you can set it as the default for your Apple Music subscription.
Step 6. Provide your card details, such as number, expiration date and security code, as well as your CPF or CNPJ and telephone number
If you like, tap the blue camera icon next to “Number” to take a picture of the card and automatically fill in the sequence of numbers
Step 7. Enter the billing information
To validate the method of receipt, please enter your full name and the address where the billing should be made.
Step 8. In the upper right corner, select Done to add and save the new Apple ID payment method
Soon, you will be able to take advantage of the Apple Music subscription and the charge will be made through the defined plan.

Step 9. Tap Edit in the upper right corner (optional)
Anyone who has more than one payment method saved can reorder them here and leave one as the primary for subscriptions.
Step 10. Press and hold the three-line icon ☰ next to any payment method
With that, you can move it to the top of the list, making it the first choice for a subscription to Apple Music.
Step 11. Bring the payment method you want to the first place on the list
Any purchases or subscriptions will be deducted from that card, including Apple Music.
Method 3 of 3: Using an Android Device
Step 1. Open the Apple Music app on Android
Find a white musical note icon on a red background; you should find it on the home screen or in the program list.
- Edit payment information on Android to remove all Apple ID methods except the primary one. This will be valid for all devices where this account is active.
- Previously, there was no way to add ways to pay Apple for Android. However, after recent updates, it has become possible to define the subscription you want and how you prefer to pay for it.

Step 2. Select Library, listen now, To explore or Radio at the bottom of the screen.
You will return to either tab if the app opens on another page.
Step 3. Tap the red three-dot icon ⋮ at the top and right of the screen
A dropdown menu will appear.
Step 4. Choose Account from the drop-down menu
The profile options will be displayed on a new page.
If you don't see this option, go to "Settings", tap "Sign in" and log in with your Apple ID
Step 5. Enter Payment Information in the “Account” menu
This option will allow you to change or delete payment data.
Step 6. Select Credit Card under “Payment Method”
Here, you can enter your credit card details, which is the only way to pay Apple Music.
- It will also be possible to change the current card used to subscribe to Apple Music.
- By modifying such information on Android, all other payment data will be removed from the Apple ID, with the exception of the primary.
- To only exclude the Apple Music receiving method, choose “None”.
Step 7. Enter your billing card and address information
They are needed to proceed.
Card number, expiration date, security code, full name, CPF or CNPJ, telephone number and address are the required data
Step 8. Tap the Done button to save the new payment method
All charges made by Apple Music will be made to this card.
