Want to make mashed potatoes in the blink of an eye? So prepare everything in advance, freeze and use whenever you like.
Steps
Step 1. Use good mashed potatoes, such as the asterix and monalisa variety
Step 2. Also use whole milk and butter when mashing the potatoes to get a better result
Step 3. Peel the potatoes
Step 4. Cook as usual
Step 5. Mash the potatoes to make the puree - use milk and butter/margarine if you prefer, but never shortening
Step 6. Allow to cool completely and then store in freezer bags โ many prefer those with a zipper closure
Remove excess air and place in the freezer!
Tips
Make sure the puree is cool before storing it. Even if it is only warm, moisture will form inside the plastic bag, which will turn to ice when you go to the freezer. In the end, during defrosting, this ice will make your puree watery.
Put a little milk in the frozen mashed potatoes, heat and mix until it gets a nice creamy consistency.
Preparing everything in advance, whenever you want mashed potatoes for lunch, just heat it up and eat it.
Mashed potato is a classic dish that is good both as an accompaniment and on its own. The problem is that, sometimes, the puree comes out too thin or doesn't have that thick and beautiful texture. This happens when we overcook the potatoes, add too much milk, or don't drain the water properly.
As tasty as the mashed potatoes are, sometimes they have a little left over for the next day. Or maybe you prepared yours too soon and now you have to wait to eat. Anyway, people generally prefer to taste it hot. Here's how to reheat mashed potatoes.
Instant potato flakes greatly reduce the work involved in preparing mashed potatoes. Decide whether you want to make it in a pot on the stove or whether you want to heat it in a bowl in the microwave. If you are going to use the stove, you will need to heat water, butter, salt and milk before adding the flakes.
Potatoes are very tasty, nutritious and abundant vegetables. Did you overdo your shopping and need to freeze a portion to eat later? As raw potatoes have a lot of water, they need to be whitened before freezing so that they are not soft after cooking.
The only thing that's better than a potato is multiple potatoes! Potatoes are delicious, multifunctional and even easy to grow. All you need to do is plant a sprouting potato in a sunny corner of your garden or in a large pot in your backyard and wait about five months for the plant to mature.
