Read this article to learn how to summon a Dragon of the End in Minecraft. You can make it appear “naturally” by visiting the End, or use cheat commands to make it appear in the world. Keep in mind that there is no way to invoke it in the console versions of Minecraft.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Visiting the End

Step 1. Know how to get to the End Dragon
The creature will be in a place called End, the last area of Minecraft's storyline; to access this dimension, you need to find or build an End Portal.

Step 2. Raise the End Portal in Creative mode
As there is no way to do this in Survival mode, you must resort to Creative mode to get the necessary resources - 12 End Portal blocks and 12 End Eyes - to then have access to End.
When choosing to use Creative mode to build the End portal, skip the next two steps

Step 3. Find the End Portal by playing in Survival mode
If you don't want to mount it, you'll need to find an End Portal in a fortress, as well as 12 End Eyes. These items are created by combining End Pearls with Incandescent Wands in the create section of the menu; to find the Burning Rods, kill the Blazes in the Nether.

Step 4. Add the End Eyes to the structure
When playing in Survival mode, just add the End Eyes to the End Portal structure as follows:
- Enter the portal.
- Equip the End Eyes.
- Stand in front of a Portal block.
- Select the Portal tile and place an End Eye on it.
- Repeat the process for all End Portal blocks in the structure.

Step 5. Wait for the End to load
By placing the last Eye of the End, you will be transported to the dimension, which is totally parallel to the world of Minecraft. Because of this, it is normal to have to wait a few minutes.

Step 6. Attack the End Dragon
It's possible that it won't be aggressive until you attack it first, so you might need to hit it with a sword or weapon before the creature starts flying.
It's a good idea to read the tips and recommendations for killing the End Dragon if you want to fight him

Step 7. Have the End Dragon reappear after the battle
To make it appear again after killing it in the End, create 4 End Crystals and place one in each dimension exit portal. The creature will reappear and you can fight it one more time.
- Each subsequent battle with the End Dragon will give 500 XP per kill, but no End Dragon Egg.
- You can also take the End Dragon Egg and place it in the exit portal to summon it again; however, you will never be able to retrieve that item again.
Method 2 of 3: Using the Command Console (Minecraft for Desktop)

Step 1. Open Minecraft by double clicking on the game icon (a three-dimensional grass earth block) and click “Start” at the bottom of the screen
When using Bedrock Edition, follow the instructions for the mobile version

Step 2. Click Single Player at the top of the Minecraft menu

Step 3. Select Create New World, further down this window

Step 4. Switch to Creative mode
Click on “Game Mode” until you find “Creative”.

Step 5. Choose More World Options… at the bottom of the window
A new menu will appear.

Step 6. Activate cheats by clicking “Enable Cheats”

Step 7. Click on Create New World, further down in the same window
A world will be created with cheats enabled.

Step 8. Open the command console
Press the / key and a text box should appear at the bottom of the screen.

Step 9. Enter the command "summon"
Enter it as follows summon ender_dragon ~ ~ ~ {DragonPhase:0} and press ↵ Enter.
- There is a space between each tilde (~).
- You can type summon ender_dragon to summon a dragon that will be floating, not moving or interacting with the scenery.

Step 10. Wait for the End Dragon to appear
After a few seconds, the creature will appear underneath you, rising and circling your character right after.
- End Dragon is hostile at this stage, but will not attack as you will be in Creative mode.
- Upon returning to Survival mode, prepare to be attacked. You will not gain any achievements for defeating him.
Method 3 of 3: Using the Command Console (Minecraft for Mobile Devices)

Step 1. Open Minecraft by tapping the app icon (a grassy earth block)

Step 2. Select Play at the top of the menu in the middle of the screen

Step 3. Tap Create New at the top of the window

Step 4. At the top, choose Create New World

Step 5. Switch to Creative mode
Although optional, summoning End Dragon in Survival mode can cause you to die almost instantly, as well as dealing damage to your world. To stop this from happening, tap “Default Game Mode” and then “Creative” from the drop-down menu.

Step 6. Scroll down and choose “Enable Cheats” in the middle of the “World Options” section which is on the right of the screen

Step 7. Tap Continue to confirm that you are aware that no progress will be made on achievements while cheating is enabled

Step 8. Select Create in the upper left corner of the screen
The game will start.

Step 9. Open the Command Console
At the top of the screen, there is a speech bubble icon, which is Chat; tap it and then tap the text box at the bottom of the screen. A keyboard will appear.
In Bedrock Desktop Edition, just press the / key

Step 10. Enter the command "summon"
With the virtual keyboard, enter /summon ender_dragon and tap the arrow that is to the right of the text box.

Step 11. Wait for the Ender Dragon to appear
In seconds, it will appear underneath you and fly around the character soon after.
- The End Dragon is hostile at this stage, but will not attack as you will be in Creative mode.
- Upon returning to Survival mode, prepare to be attacked. You will not gain any achievements for defeating him.
Tips
In Creative mode, try to fly before making the End Dragon appear. That way he won't break nearby blocks when he attacks and lands
Notices
- It is best not to summon the End Dragon from a tower or tall structure in Survival mode. That way there's no risk of dropping your character if the creature gets too close.
- Unfortunately, there is no way to make the Dragon of the End appear by using commands in the console (Xbox, PlayStation, Switch or Wii) versions of Minecraft.
