A ninja costume needs to be dark, discreet and comfortable to give the warrior the necessary elasticity and camouflage for quick, stealthy moves. It is possible to create a ninja outfit without sewing, just with a turtleneck blouse, cargo pants and a robe. To make it even more realistic, wear a scarf, a ribbon, a pair of boots, a long-sleeved shirt, and gloves. Finally, grab four T-shirts that will serve as leg protections and pack some toy guns!

Steps

Part 1 of 3: Creating the ninja pants and ninja blouse

Step 1. Wear a turtleneck with black cargo pants

Note that the blouse must be black and long-sleeved. As for the pants, choose one that is straight and allows you to move well.

  • If you don't have a black blouse, wear a white one. However, remember to wear white pants too.
  • If you don't have black cargo pants, substitute a tight-fitting sweatshirt, tight jeans, or leggings.

Step 2. Tie a black ribbon above both heels

As the cargo pants chosen will be the one with straight legs, it will have to be adapted to look like the ninjas, which narrow at the ankles. To do this, tie a black ribbon just above each heel, in a knot that won't slip off too easily.

Step 3. Get a black kimono or short black robe

A real kimono is expensive, however, there is a good substitute for it that can be found in any department store: a thin cotton or satin robe. Remember to choose one that comes with a banner.

  • In case you can't find an all-black robe, look for one that has vivid details in red, blue, green, and white. Details can be, for example, in the form of a floral print.
  • As a last resort, choose the darkest solid color you have, as there are ninjas in red, white, gray, blue, etc.

Step 4. Put the robe over your blouse and pants

Wear it normally and adjust it until you are comfortable with it. Loop the belt around your waist and secure it in a knot.

Step 5. Put on a pair of black gloves

As long as they are black, they can be of any material – leather, wool, mesh. Thread the sleeves of your Olympic blouse over the cuffs of your gloves.

Step 6. Wrap a scarf above the sash

Try to cover up the entire area between the end of the chest and the navel so that it looks like a wide belt. Tie the ends of the scarf to the back. If necessary, attach safety pins to help keep it secure.

So that the ends do not hang and the look is cleaner, pass them inside the belt

Step 7. Put on a high-top black boot over the bottom of your pants

Before tying the boots, tuck the pants inside them. Then tie normally so that the pants are securely fastened.

Part 2 of 3: Making the hood and mask

Step 1. Start wearing a long-sleeved black T-shirt, but stop before you finish pulling it over your ears and nose

In short, pass only half of your head through the collar, which should hang in the middle of the arch of your nose.

Step 2. Bring the back of the shirt over your forehead

Adjust so that it is above the eyebrows. For now, it's not about getting stuck, just to be in the right place.

Step 3. Tie the sleeves behind your head

Take more than one lap, passing over the forehead if necessary. It's okay to leave the ends hanging behind your head. However, if you prefer, hide them inside your turtleneck.

Part 3 of 3: Adding Accessories

Step 1. Create the leg protections using red or black t-shirts

They should be tied just below and just above the knees. Therefore, four shirts will be needed. If you find it easier, replace the shirts with scarves. Although the colors red and black are the most recommended, it is possible to use white as well.

Step 2. Start by rolling a T-shirt around your thigh, just above your knee

Angle the collar, pointing towards your belly button. Thread all excess cloth inside the tie, especially the collar seam. The protection should have a width between 5 cm and 8 cm.

It is not necessary to “wear” the shirt by the leg, just wrap it around the thigh

Step 3. Tie the sleeves behind the leg

Then tuck the knot under the shirt and be sure to do the same with any excess.

Also tie the bottoms of the shirt behind your legs and hide the knot as you did before. Repeat the process for the other leg

Step 4. Take another shirt and cover the bottom

Tie a T-shirt in the middle of your calf (calf). Tie the sleeves behind your leg and hide the knot under the shirt. Repeat for the other leg.

Step 5. Make some ninja weapons to complete the look

Make little ninja stars and a ninja sword out of cardboard, or buy plastic from a toy or costume store. If you already have a nunchaku, even better. If you can't get any of these weapons, use a broomstick, tree branch, or bamboo as a ninja stick. Once you've gathered all the weapons, add them to your uniform.

Tips

  • Hide any loose parts of the costume. If any part doesn't want to get stuck, use a safety pin.
  • Do not overtighten any part of the suit so as not to impair blood circulation.
  • If you decide to change the color of one of the main parts of the costume (blouse or pants), change the color of the other part as well.
