This article will teach you how to add a picture to a Microsoft Word document in three different ways; inserting, pasting or dragging it from the "Desktop" into the document.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Using the "Insert" Command

Step 1. Click somewhere in the document
Do it close to where you want to insert the image.

Step 2. Click on the Insert tab
This option is at the top of the window.

Step 3. Click Images on the left side of the toolbar
- In some versions of Word, it is necessary to click first Insert in the menu bar at the top of the screen, and then select Images.

Step 4. Select the location where you want to insert the image
- click in Of the file… to locate and select the image file on your computer.
- click in Browse photo… if you want Word to search for image files on your computer.

Step 5. Right click on the image you want to add

Step 6. Click Insert
The image will be placed in the location clicked within the Word document.
- Click and hold the photo to move it and drag it to another location.
- You can also edit the image inside the Word document.
Method 2 of 3: Copying and Pasting

Step 1. Find the image you want to copy
It could be on the internet, in another document, or in your photo library.

Step 2. Right-click on the image

Step 3. Click Copy
If you're using a Mac that doesn't have a right-click function, press the Control key and click on the image, or click on it with two fingers using the trackpad

Step 4. Right click on the document
Do it close to where you want to insert the image.

Step 5. Click Paste
The image will be placed in the location clicked within the Word document.
- Click and hold the photo to move it and drag it to another location.
- You can also edit the image inside the Word document.
Method 3 of 3: Dragging and Dropping

Step 1. Locate the image you want to add
Find the file on your computer in a folder, window or even the "Desktop".

Step 2. Click and hold the image file

Step 3. Drag it into the Word document and release the mouse click
The image will be inserted into the Word document where you drop it.
- Click and hold the photo to move it and drag it to another location.
- You can also edit the image inside the Word document.
