Bookmarks are a great way to bookmark pages we plan to visit in the future. However, they are so easy to raise that they can multiply more than rabbits, and from time to time it is always good to organize them. Deleting a bookmark can be done with a few clicks or taps on any web browser.
Steps
Method 1 of 8: Google Chrome
Step 1. Right click on the bookmark and select "Delete"
At any time in Google Chrome, you can right click on a saved page and select "Delete" to permanently remove it. You can do this from the bookmark bar, bookmark manager, or from the list in the "Favorites" section of the Chrome menu. For this, a confirmation of deletion is not required.
Step 2. Open the bookmark manager
You can use the bookmark management tool in Chrome to view them all at once. There are different ways to open this option in a new tab:
- Click on the Chrome menu button and select "Favorites" → "Favorites Manager". This will open a new tab.
- Press ⌘ Command/Ctrl+⇧ Shift+O keys to open the bookmark manager in a new tab.
- Type chrome://bookmarks in the address bar to load the bookmark manager in the current tab.
Step 3. Browse among favorites
All saved pages will be displayed in the manager. You can expand folders to see bookmarks within them.
- If you're signed in to Chrome using your Google account, all synced devices will share the same bookmarks.
- Deleting a folder will delete all bookmarks within it.
Step 4. Display the bookmark bar
This bar appears just below the address bar, and it displays saved pages. You can easily delete them from this bar.
- Click on the Chrome menu button and select "Favorites" → "Show Bookmarks Bar".
- Press the keys ⌘ Command/Ctrl+⇧ Shift+B
Method 2 of 8: Internet Explorer
Step 1. Right click on the bookmark and select "Delete"
You can delete them anywhere in Internet Explorer by right-clicking on them and selecting "Delete". You can do this from the sidebar or from the favorites menu bar.
Step 2. Open the bookmarks sidebar to view them
This bar will display all saved pages. There are different ways to open it:
- Click on the star button (☆) and on the "Favorites" tab.
- Press the Alt+C keys and click on the "Favorites" tab.
Step 3. Open the bookmark manager to view them
You can also view your saved pages in the bookmark manager. It allows you to expand and collapse created folders:
- Click on the "Favorites" menu and select "Organize Favorites". If it isn't visible, press the Alt key.
- Click on folders to expand or collapse them.
- Deleting a folder deletes all bookmarks within it.
Step 4. Find favorites in Windows Explorer
Internet Explorer stores bookmarks in file format, and you can find them in Windows Explorer. This makes it much easier to delete many of them at once.
- Open a Windows Explorer window (⊞ Win+E) and navigate to C:\Users\username\Favorites. All Internet Explorer bookmarks will be displayed in the form of files and folders.
- You can drag the files to the trash or right click on them and select "Delete".
Method 3 of 8: Microsoft Edge
Step 1. Tap or click the "Hub" button
It looks like three horizontal lines, symbolizing a paragraph.
Step 2. Tap or click on the "Favorites" tab
It has a star icon (☆).
Step 3. Right click on the bookmark or press and hold it, then select "Delete"
This will delete it immediately. When deleting a folder, all bookmarks within it will also be deleted.
It is not possible to delete the "Favorites Bar" folder
Method 4 of 8: Mozilla Firefox
Step 1. Open the "Favorites" sidebar
The easiest way to get quick access to all Firefox bookmarks is through this bar. Click the clipboard button next to the "Favorites" button and select "View Favorites Sidebar".
Step 2. Expand categories to view favorites
They are added and organized into different categories. Expand the categories or search for a specific favorite using the search box.
Step 3. Right click on the bookmark and select "Delete"
It will be removed immediately.
You can right-click on pages from anywhere, including the "Favorites" menu, the bookmarks bar, or wherever they appear
Step 4. Open the library to manage bookmarks
If you need to delete more than one bookmark at once, the library makes it easy to find and delete them.
- Click the clipboard button and select "Show All Favorites" or press the ⌘ Command/Ctrl+⇧ Shift+B keys.
- Select multiple favorites by pressing the Ctrl/⌘ Command keys and clicking on each of them.
Method 5 of 8: Safari
Step 1. Click on the "Favorites" menu and select "Edit Favorites"
This will open the bookmark manager.
You can also open it by pressing ⌘ Command+⌥ Option+B
Step 2. Hold the Control key and click on the bookmark you want to remove and select "Delete".
This will delete it immediately.
Step 3. Hold the Control key and click on the bookmark in the bookmark bar to delete it
You can quickly delete saved pages from the Safari bookmarks bar. Just right click on them and select "Delete".
Method 6 of 8: Google Chrome (mobile)
Step 1. Tap the Chrome menu button (⋮) and select "Favorites"
This will open the list of saved pages. If you don't see the ⋮ button, scroll the page up a little.
- If you are logged into a Google account, all synced bookmarks will be displayed.
- This procedure is the same for Android and iOS devices.
Step 2. Tap the menu button (⋮) next to the bookmark you want to delete
This will open a small menu.
Step 3. Tap "Delete" to remove the bookmark
It will be deleted immediately.
- If you accidentally delete a bookmark, tap "Undo" to restore it. This option is only available for a few seconds.
- When deleting a folder, all bookmarks within it will also be deleted.
Step 4. Press and hold the favorite to select others
By doing this, you enable selection mode. This way, you can tap more than one bookmark to select it.
Step 5. Delete selected bookmarks by tapping on the trash can
This will delete all selected bookmarks.
Method 7 of 8: Safari (iOS)
Step 1. Tap the "Favorites" button
It can be found at the bottom of the screen on an iPhone or at the top on an iPad.
Step 2. Select the "Favorites" tab
This will display all saved pages.
Step 3. Tap the "Edit" button
It allows you to remove any item from the list.
If the bookmark you want to delete is inside a folder, open it and tap the "Edit" option
Step 4. Tap the "-" sign next to the bookmark or folder you want to delete
Tap "Delete" to confirm.
It is not possible to delete the "Favorites" and "History" folders, but you can delete the items inside them
Method 8 of 8: Android Browser
Step 1. Tap the "Favorites" button at the top of the screen
It has a bookmark icon. This will open the browser's bookmark manager.
Step 2. Press and hold the bookmark you want to delete
This will open a new menu.
Step 3. Tap "Delete Favorite" to remove it
After confirming the action, you won't be able to go back.
