This article will teach you how to allow your internet browser to save cookies from the websites you visit. Cookies are small amounts of data that help the browser to remember things like: usernames, passwords and website preferences. On an iPhone and iPad, they are enabled in both Firefox and Chrome, and cannot be disabled.
Steps
Method 1 of 8: Using Google Chrome on a Computer
Step 1. Open Google Chrome
It has a red, yellow, green and blue sphere icon.
Step 2. Click the ⋮ button in the upper right corner of the window
Doing so will open a dropdown menu.
Step 3. Click Settings near the bottom of the drop-down menu
Then the "Settings" page will open.
Step 4. Scroll down and click Advanced ▼ at the bottom of the "Settings" page
Then new options will be displayed.
Step 5. Scroll down and click Content Settings… at the bottom of the "Privacy & Security" section
Step 6. Click on Cookies at the top of the page
Step 7. Click the gray key "Allow sites to save and read cookie data (recommended)"
Then it will change to blue color.
. Google Chrome will now allow the use of Cookies.
If the key is already blue then they are already allowed
Method 2 of 8: Using Google Chrome on Android
Step 1. Open Google Chrome
It has a red, yellow, green and blue sphere icon.
You cannot change cookie settings in Google Chrome on iPhone or iPad; it is already enabled
Step 2. Tap the ⋮ button located in the upper right corner of the screen
Then a dropdown menu will load.
Step 3. Tap Settings at the bottom of the drop-down menu
Doing so will open the "Settings" page.
Step 4. Tap Site Settings in the middle of the "Settings" page
Step 5. Tap Cookies located at the top of the screen
Step 6. Tap the gray "Cookies" key
located at the top of the screen.
It will change to blue color
indicating that cookies are now allowed in Google Chrome.
If the key is already blue then they are already allowed
Method 3 of 8: Using Firefox on a Computer
Step 1. Open Firefox
It has the icon of a red and orange fox curved into a blue globe.
Step 2. Click ☰ in the upper right corner of the Firefox window
Doing so will open a dropdown menu.
Step 3. Click Options in the middle of the drop-down menu
Doing so will open the "Settings" page.
On Mac or Linux, you need to click Preferences.
Step 4. Click on the Privacy & Security tab on the left side of the page
Step 5. Click on the "Firefox Goes" drop-down box under the "History" header in the middle of the page
Then a dropdown menu will load.
Step 6. Click Use custom settings for browsing history from the drop-down menu
You should see several other options under the "Browsing history" header.
Step 7. Select the option "Accept cookies from websites"
Doing so will enable cookies in Firefox.
If it is already selected, then Firefox is already allowing the use of cookies
Method 4 of 8: Using Firefox on Android
Step 1. Open Firefox
It has the icon of a red and orange fox curved into a blue globe.
It is not possible to change the cookie settings in the mobile version of Firefox for the iPhone or iPad; it is already enabled
Step 2. Tap ⋯ in the upper right corner of the screen
Then a dropdown menu will load.
Step 3. Tap Settings at the bottom of the drop-down menu
Then the "Settings" page will open.
Step 4. Tap Privacy in the middle of the page
Step 5. Tap Cookies at the top of the page
Doing so will open a popup window.
Step 6. Tap Activate at the top of the pop-up menu
Doing so will enable cookies in Firefox.
Method 5 of 8: Using Microsoft Edge on a Computer
Step 1. Open Microsoft Edge
It has a white "e" icon on a dark blue background, although it may appear in some places just as a dark blue "e".
Step 2. Click ⋯ located in the upper right corner of the window
Then a dropdown menu will load.
Step 3. Click Settings at the bottom of the drop-down menu
Doing so will open the "Settings" pop-up menu on the side of the window.
Step 4. Scroll down and click Show advanced settings near the bottom of the "Settings" menu
Then the "Advanced" page menu will open.
Step 5. Scroll down and tap the "Cookies" drop-down checkbox near the bottom of the menu
Doing so will open a dropdown menu.
Step 6. Click Do not block cookies from the drop-down menu
Doing so ensures that Microsoft Edge allows cookies from now on.
Method 6 of 8: Using Internet Explorer
Step 1. Open "Internet Explorer"
It has a light blue "e" icon with a yellow band around it.
Step 2. Click on the "Settings" icon
It has a drawing of a gear and is located in the upper right corner of the window in Internet Explorer. Doing so will open a dropdown menu.
Step 3. Click on Internet Options near the top of the dropdown menu
Then the "Internet Options" window will open.
It may take a few seconds before you can click on the item. Internet Options.
Step 4. Click on the Privacy tab located at the top of the "Internet Options" window
Step 5. Click Advanced on the right and center side of the "Settings" section of the window
Doing so will open the "Settings" pop-up window.
Step 6. Check both "Accept" checkboxes
These boxes are labeled "Primary Cookies" and "Secondary Cookies", respectively.
If they are already selected, skip this step
Step 7. Check the "Always allow session cookies" checkbox located in the middle of the window
If it is already selected, skip this step
Step 8. Click OK
at the bottom of the window. Doing so will confirm the changes and close the window.
Step 9. Click Apply and then on OK.
Both options are at the bottom of the "Internet Options" window. Doing so will apply the Internet Explorer changes and close the "Internet Options" window. Internet Explorer will now allow cookies.
If you have not made any changes in the "Settings" pop-up window, do not click on To apply.
Method 7 of 8: Using Safari on a Computer
Step 1. Open Safari
It has a blue compass icon and can be found on the Mac's dock.
Step 2. Click Safari in the upper left corner of the screen
Doing so will open a dropdown menu.
Step 3. Click Preferences… in the dropdown menu Safari.
Doing so will open the "Preferences" window.
Step 4. Click on the Privacy tab This hand icon is at the top of the "Preferences" window
Step 5. Uncheck the "Block All Cookies" option located in the "Cookies and Website Data" section near the top of the window
Doing so allows Safari to use cookies.
If this checkbox is unchecked, then Safari is not blocking cookies
Method 8 of 8: Using Safari on iPhone
Step 1. Open the "Settings" application
To do this, tap the gear icon located on the home screen.
Safari is not available for the Android platform
Step 2. Tap Safari towards the bottom of the "Settings" page
Doing so will open the "Safari Settings" menu.
Step 3. Navigate to the "Privacy and Security" heading near the middle of the "Safari" menu
Step 4. Tap the green key "Block all cookies"
located in the right corner of the screen.
Then the key will change to white color.
indicating that cookies are now allowed in the Safari browser on iPhone.
If it is already white, then cookies are already allowed
Tips
- If cookies are enabled, but some site claims the opposite, try clearing your browser's cache and cookies.
- There are two main types of cookies: primary (downloaded by the internet browser to remember your preferences) and secondary (which allow websites other than those accessed to access your browsing data).
