Google Chrome is a very popular internet browser. In it, there is a tool that can be activated to help users find specific words or phrases on the pages visited. This tool is called "Find", and it can be activated in different ways.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Opening the "Find" Tool with the Mouse
Step 1. Navigate to the page you want to perform a search on
After opening Google Chrome, type the URL of the page into the address bar and press the ↵ Enter key. Allow the page to load completely before proceeding to the next Step.
Step 2. Click on the menu button
Click the icon with three horizontal lines (☰) in the upper right corner of the browser window. It is right below the "X" button that closes the window if you are using the Windows operating system. When hovering over it, you might see the message "Customize and Control Google Chrome".
Step 3. Locate and click on "Find" option
When clicking "Find", the dropdown menu should disappear, and a small text box should appear below the address bar. This is the search box, and it contains an up arrow, a down arrow and an "X".
Step 4. Enter the word or phrase you want to search on the website
If you've never used the "Find" tool before, there won't be anything typed into it; otherwise, you'll need to delete the word or phrase you've typed.
You can press the ↵ Enter key when you are finished typing, but this is not necessary for the search to work. When you finish typing, Chrome will automatically search for the term
Step 5. See how many occurrences of the word or phrase were found on the page
After entering the term, Chrome will highlight all occurrences of the term on the page. For example, it will display "1 of 20" on the right side of the search box telling you how many times the term has been found.
- You can click the up and down arrows to navigate between occurrences of the searched word or phrase.
- The current occurrence, displayed by clicking one of the arrows, will change the highlight color from yellow to orange.
Step 6. Close the "Find" tool
When you are finished using the tool, you can close it by clicking the "X" or pressing the Esc key. The highlight color over the terms found will disappear.
Method 2 of 2: Opening the "Find" Tool with the Keyboard
Step 1. Navigate to the page you want to perform a search on

Step 2. Use the keyboard keys to activate the "Find" tool
Depending on the operating system used (Windows, Mac, etc), the shortcut may vary:
- Windows: press the Ctrl+F keys.
- Mac: Press the ⌘ Command+F keys.
Step 3. Locate the search bar that will appear in the upper right corner of the browser
The search bar will appear below the Chrome address bar in the upper right corner of the page.
Step 4. Enter the word or phrase you want to search on the website
If you've never used the "Find" tool before, there won't be anything typed into it; otherwise, you'll need to delete the word or phrase you've typed.
There's no need to press the {keypress|Enter}} key when you're done typing, Chrome will automatically search for terms
