Canned sardines are a food rich in nutrients, vitamins, minerals and omega 3. This fish is also cheap and easy to prepare. They come packaged with water, oil, lemon juice or tomato sauce, making them easy to use in many different dishes. Keep it simple and eat it plain, on toast or in a salad. Another option is to make a plate with eggs or fry the sardines.

Method 1 of 3: Keeping It Simple
Step 1. Eat the sardines straight from the can
You don't need a complicated recipe to taste this fish! Just grab a fork and eat it straight out of the can for a healthy, protein-rich snack. You can also add a little lemon juice, hot sauce or balsamic vinaigrette if you wish.

Step 2. Place the sardines in a salad
This is another layer of flavor for any salad. Mix it with your regular recipe or try chopping the sardines, oranges, olives and hard-boiled eggs and mixing well with your favorite lettuce mix. Use a simple sauce and enjoy!
Step 3. Serve on toast
The salty flavor and rich texture of sardines is the perfect complement to a very crunchy bread. Toast a piece of your favorite loaf of bread, butter it and spread some sardines on top. Another option is to put mayonnaise on the toast, add the sardines and sprinkle it all with a little fennel.
Step 4. Eat sardines with salt and water biscuits
Choose your favorite biscuit and fill it with fish. Add a little pepper sauce to add a spicier feel to the snack! You can also spread mayonnaise or mustard on the biscuit before adding the sardines, if you wish.
Step 5. Add braised sardines to pasta
Put a small amount of olive oil in a skillet. Then add sardines and minced garlic and cook over medium or high heat until the garlic starts to brown. Then mix the two ingredients with your favorite pasta. Try putting them on fettuccine noodles with alfredo sauce or mix with linguine, capers and lemon.
Step 6. Use it on pizza
Sardines are a great addition to any pizza. Add it to a classic pepperoni and sausage pizza for extra flavor. Another option is to spread the sautéed onion in a round dough, sprinkle the chopped sardines on top, sprinkle with olive oil and finish with salt, black pepper and crème frâiche. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes at 230 °C.
Method 2 of 3: Making an Egg Plate
Step 1. Preheat the oven and a dish to serve
Turn the oven on to 260 °C and let the dishes heat up for five minutes while the oven heats up.
Step 2. Add shallots, garlic, chopped parsley and sardines to the hot dishes
Use a chopping board and sharp knife to chop a small shallot, two cloves of garlic and three sprigs of parsley. Add the ingredients and the canned sardines, place them on the dishwasher and sprinkle with black pepper on top.
Step 3. Cook for five minutes, then remove the dishes and add the eggs
Place the dishes in the oven and cook for six minutes. Carefully remove it with a pot holder. Then break four eggs into a bowl and gently pour them into the dishes. Season them with salt and pepper.
Step 4. Bake for another five minutes and let the dishes rest for five minutes
Carefully take it back to the oven and let it bake for another seven minutes. Egg whites should be cooked but still slightly soft. Remove the dishes from the oven with the pan tongs and let them rest for five minutes to continue cooking. Serve the dish with toast and hot sauce.
Method 3 of 3: Frying the sardines
Step 1. Prepare the ingredients
Wash the sardines and pat them dry. Place half a cup (60 g) of all-purpose flour in a bowl and season with salt and pepper. In another bowl, beat two eggs with a tablespoon (20 ml) of water. Place a cup (120 g) of breadcrumbs in another bowl.
Step 2. Cover the sardines with all-purpose flour, eggs and breadcrumbs
Put two or three sardines in the flour and cover them well. Shake a little to remove excess, then dip them into the egg mixture. Then transfer them to the bowl with the breadcrumbs and cover them evenly. Repeat until all sardines have received the batter.
Step 3. Fry in oil for six to seven minutes
Heat half a cup (120 ml) of oil in a skillet over medium heat. Work on different batches, adding one layer of sardines to the skillet at a time. Fry until golden brown, for three to four minutes. Turn them over and fry the other side for another three minutes.
- Repeat until all sardines are fried.
- Add more oil to the skillet for other shipments if necessary.
Step 4. Season with salt
Carefully transfer the fried sardines to a plate covered with a paper towel. While they are hot, season with salt.
Step 5. Serve with fried capers and parsley
Heat two tablespoons (40 ml) of oil in the same skillet you used. Then put half a cup (60 g) of drained and washed capers and half a cup (60 g) of fresh parsley leaves in the oil. Fry for a minute, remove capers and parsley and place on top of sardines. It's time to taste!
