Even though using the microwave is not the ideal way to prepare tea, it cuts down on time wasted waiting for the water to heat up on the stove and can be convenient at work places or when you're in a hurry and need tea at that exact moment.. See how to do this with minimal effort.
Step 1. Put a tea bag or the leaves in the mug that you will microwave
Step 2. Cover only the tea bag or tea leaves with water
You should use about one or two tablespoons of water for this.
Step 3. Place the mug in the microwave
heat on power high for 30 seconds.
Step 4. Cover the mug with a napkin or something else and let it sit for 2 minutes
Step 5. Now uncover the cup and remove the tea bag
Be careful, it will be hot! Resist the temptation to squeeze the bag, as this will make your tea bitter. If you like, now is the time to add sugar, honey or lemon. Then just top up your cup with water.
Step 6. If you prefer your tea to be extremely hot, microwave your cup again at high temperature for one minute
Step 7. Enjoy your tea
You can also heat just the water in the microwave and then add the tea to let it steep
- Only use this method with tea bags, never with diffusers. Never put something metal in the microwave.
