Most people go straight to the blender when they think about making a smoothie, but did you know you don't have to use one? As long as the fruit is ripe and softer in texture, it is possible to knead it by hand and mix it with yogurt, milk, water or other beverages. To give the smoothie that characteristic texture, shake it with ice until it is foamy and very cold. Use this simple method to make your favorite vitamins or invent a new one!
Steps
Part 1 of 2: Choosing the ingredients
Step 1. Look for ripe fruit
You won't be able to mash fruits that are firm and full of fiber, so choose the softer ones. It is important to emphasize that the fruits are softer when they are ripe. Below are some examples of good fruits to knead by hand and use one or more to make your smoothie:
- Kiwi.
- Mango.
- Banana.
- Pear.
- Red fruits such as strawberry, acerola, blackberry or raspberry.
Step 2. Try soft vegetables or vegetable purees
Most vegetables are too firm to make a smoothie without hitting a blender, like a ripe avocado. You can also add a few spoonfuls of pureed vegetables, such as pumpkin, carrots or yams.
Vegetable puree helps to thicken the vitamin and also gives it a brighter color
Step 3. Include proteins that thicken the vitamin
Ripe fruits are often the main ingredient in smoothies made without a blender, but you'll need a source of protein to make the texture creamy. Use your favorite type of yogurt, flaxseed, or chia to add more protein to the drink.
Use tahini or coconut butter, cocoa or another variety to add protein to the smoothie without as much sugar
Tip:
if you want the smoothie to be very thick, use whole Greek yogurt. Choose the flavor you like best or the traditional one if you want to better control the flavor of the vitamin.
Step 4. Choose a drink to thin the smoothie
You probably won't need to put a lot of liquid drink in the smoothie, but it's a good idea to choose a nutritious one. If you want the vitamin to be creamy, use regular milk, soy or almond milk. If you want it to be sweeter, add fruit juice.
For example, use apple, grape, orange or pineapple juice
Step 5. Put ready-made powders to add protein or flavor to the vitamin
Customize your recipe by adding powdered protein preparations or other powdered ingredients that add more flavor to the drink. If adding protein, use the amount recommended by the manufacturer. If you want to change the flavor of the vitamin, here are some suggestions:
- Cocoa powder.
- Matcha powder.
- Powder litter.
- Spices such as nutmeg, cinnamon or turmeric.
Part 2 of 2: Mixing the Vitamin
Step 1. Mash ripe fruits and vegetables
Wash and peel off the fruit. Put the amount you want in a bowl and use the back of a spoon, a fork or a potato masher to macerate the fruits and vegetables until they are as liquid as possible.
Remember that fruit and vegetable purees will have some lumps or lumps
Step 2. Mix fruits and vegetables with other ingredients
Place the crushed fruits or vegetables in a larger bowl and add your chosen belongings. Stir well until the powdered ingredients mix and everything is smooth.
For example, if you want to make a classic strawberry banana smoothie, put the crushed bananas and strawberries in a bowl and add a few tablespoons of yogurt. Stir so that everything is homogeneous
Step 3. Mix the smoothie with ice if you want it to foam
You can drink the smoothie right after mixing all the ingredients, or you can make it colder and more sparkling. Put some ice cubes in a large jar and pour in the smoothie. Place the lid on the jar and shake until the drink is colder and foamy. This will take about 30 seconds.
If you want it to be even colder, add crushed ice before serving. However, be aware that the vitamin will look like a slushie
Step 4. Add the drink you chose to adjust the consistency of the vitamin
Once you've mixed the main ingredients together, taste the vitamin and see if it's the consistency you want. If you want to thin it, add a tablespoon or two of juice or milk until it is the way you like it best.
If the smoothie is too liquid for your taste, add more yogurt or chia seeds. The chia seeds will take a few minutes to thicken the drink, so wait a while before drinking
Step 5. Drink your cold vitamin
Put the drink in a glass and drink immediately. Since the ingredients have not been mixed in the blender, they will start to separate faster. If this happens, stir with a long spoon and drink with a straw.
