You can freeze ginger to store it longer, whether whole, chopped or chopped. The method of preparing for freezing is easy and, considering you use it regularly, you can keep a lot in the freezer at once.
Steps
Method 1 of 4: Whole Ginger
This method is great when you want to store it for long periods and useful when you have a ginger that you've just cut but aren't going to use all of it.
Step 1. Choose a piece of fresh, unstained ginger (or more if necessary)
Make sure it's clean; if not, clean it quickly and dry it well before continuing.
Step 2. Wrap the pieces in foil or aluminum foil
Each piece must be wrapped separately if more than one is to be frozen.
Step 3. Place the pieces into a resealable freezer bag
Try using a bag the same size as the ginger that will be frozen. Then squeeze it to get as much air as possible before closing it tightly.
Step 4. Place in freezer
Each time you use it, remove a whole ginger and let it thaw. Then use it normally.
If you're making a stir-fry, slice the frozen ginger with a sharp knife; this will cause it to thaw more quickly during brewing
Method 2 of 4: Chopped Ginger
This method is useful if you prefer to use chopped ginger.
Step 1. Choose a suitable piece of ginger
Then peel it and cut it into fine pieces. Then use a grater or food processor to chop the ginger.
Step 2. Line a baking sheet or tin with parchment paper or aluminum foil
Step 3. Make chopped ginger balls with a teaspoon or tablespoon
Then place them on the baking sheet. Remember to make them as uniform as possible. Repeat the process until all the ginger has been used up.
Step 4. Place a piece of film paper on the baking sheet
Afterwards, place it inside the freezer and let it freeze.
Step 5. Remove the baking sheet from the freezer
Then drop the frozen pieces of chopped ginger and transfer them to airtight containers.
If using a bag, try to get as much air as possible before closing it again
Step 6. Place the container back in the freezer
Use as needed. This ginger can be stored for up to 6 months.
Method 3 of 4: Sliced Ginger
This method can be useful if you need ginger slices for sauteing, roasting, etc.
Step 1. Select a suitable ginger
It can be peeled or not, according to your preference. If you choose unpeeled ginger, peel it in this step.
Step 2. Cut the ginger into small slices
Thumb-sized or toothpick slices are most acceptable.
Step 3. Place them inside an airtight container for storage
If using a bag, try to fill it as much as possible and get all the air out.
Step 4. Place in freezer
Use within 3 months.
Method 4 of 4: Ginger Medallions
Step 1. Choose a gingerbread
It should be reasonably large in size to facilitate cutting into medallions. Then peel it.
Step 2. Cut the ginger into medallions
Simply cut ginger "slices" so that they look like crooked lockets. Continue until finished with all the gingers.
Step 3. Place the medallions in an airtight freezer bag
Try to fill it as much as possible and then press it to get the air out. Alternatively, arrange the medallions in layers inside a freezer-use container.
Step 4. Place in freezer
Ginger can be stored like this for up to 3 months.
