  • ⅓ cup of brown sugar.
  • ⅓ cup of water.
  • ¼ cup of vegetable oil.

Steps

Method 1 of 3: Baking the Salmon

Cook Salmon Fillet Step 1

Step 1. Preheat oven to 200 °C

Light it, select the right temperature and wait. Don't be in a hurry and don't put the fish in too soon! Preheating is essential to ensure the fillets are completely and correctly roasted.

Step 2. Take a low tray and line it with some aluminum foil

You need to cover the entire surface of the pan or at least the part where the salmon will be. If necessary, cut the aluminum foil with scissors to the right size.

Don't have aluminum foil? Grease the pan with butter or oil

Step 3. Season the fillets with mustard, salt and pepper

Evenly spread 3 tablespoons of Dijon mustard on top of fish, then cover with ¼ cup of breadcrumbs, salt and pepper. Add ¼ cup of melted butter on top of salmon to set seasoning.

  • If you prepare the fish with the skin, leave it in contact with the aluminum foil. Don't forget to keep the steaks evenly spaced!
  • Do you want to play with new flavors? How about some herb butter or some lemon wedges?

Step 4. Transfer the salmon to the baking sheet

Place the fillets in the tin, leaving at least 2 cm of space between them. If they have the skin, remember to leave it in contact with the aluminum foil!

Step 5. Bake the fish for 15 minutes

Use the grid halfway up the oven and wait as long as necessary. You can tell that you've finished roasting using a fork: if you can easily cut a small piece of salmon, it's done.

Still not good? Return the pan to the oven and check again in two minutes. Use a kitchen thermometer to check the temperature from time to time: it should be at least 60°C

Step 6. Take the filets out of the oven and serve them immediately

Accompany them with something light, like a baked potato. Want to make a delicious dish? Salmon goes well with asparagus. Feel free to splash a little lemon on top. It is not necessary to eat the fish right after roasting it, but it tastes better the moment it comes out of the oven.

Keep the fish in the fridge by wrapping it in plastic and placing it on a plate. But it's important to let it cool to room temperature first! Salmon lasts up to three days in the refrigerator

Method 2 of 3: Sealing the Salmon

Cook Salmon Fillet Step 7

Step 1. Heat a skillet for three minutes on the stove

Get one that is big and wide enough to hold four 200g salmon fillets. Turn the heat to medium and wait three minutes before placing the fish so that the cooking is homogeneous.

Preheating is important as it allows the salmon to start cooking as soon as it is added to the pan

Step 2. Apply a little olive oil before adding the salmon

Put ½ tablespoon on each fillet, smearing both sides.

Since you have covered the fish with oil, there is no need to grease the pan

Step 3. Seal the salmon for three minutes over high heat and let it cook for a long time

Meanwhile, add spices and capers. If you want to add a special touch, season the fillets with cumin or chili powder.

Cinnamon, powdered mustard and paprika are also great choices

Step 4. Turn the fish over and leave it in the pan for another five minutes

It is important to turn it over to cook it well on both sides. If you like, add a little more seasoning. After enough time, take a fork and skewer the salmon to see if it's done. The filets should take on a lasting color before you take them out of the fire.

Step 5. Serve the salmon right after you finish preparing it

Place each of the fillets on a plate and decorate them with a wedge of lemon. Accompany the dish with roasted vegetables or puree to create a more exquisite meal.

Is there any fish left? Do not worry. Put everything in a tightly closed jar and store it in the refrigerator for up to three days

Method 3 of 3: Grilling Salmon

Step 1. Sprinkle the salt, lemon pepper and garlic powder in the fish

Add a pinch of each of the ingredients, using the same amount on both sides. Want to give it a stronger flavor? Add more seasoning and let the salmon look just the way you like it. Don't forget to temper the ends as well.

Usually a pinch is about a teaspoon tip

Step 2. Make a marinade by mixing soy sauce, brown sugar, water and oil

Add ⅓ cup soy sauce, brown sugar and water and ¼ cup vegetable oil to a bowl. Stir all the ingredients until the sugar dissolves and the dough is smooth. To make your work easier, mix the liquids first and then add the brown sugar.

Step 3. Leave the fillets and marinade in plastic bags for two hours

It is important that there is enough space to place not only the fish, but also the sugar and soy sauce mixture. Put the salmon first and add the marinade on top. Close the bag fully and store it in the refrigerator. Wait for the steaks to taste for two hours.

If you intend to make a larger amount of salmon, prepare the marinade in two parts. It's a good idea to split the preparation already thinking about how much you want to save for later

Step 4. Preheat the grill to 180 °C and add a little oil

Start the fire and wait. If the appliance does not have a temperature gauge, place your hand at a distance of 10 cm from the grid. Count how long it takes for the heat to arrive: it should take between six or seven seconds for you to feel a little warmth in your palm. Put a little oil on the surface of the fish to make it easier to turn the fillets.

Did your hand get warm before six seconds? It's a sign that it's too hot and it's better to reduce the fire

Step 5. Grill each side of the fish for eight minutes

Leave the fillets evenly spaced and wait for the right time to turn them over. When you can cut a small piece with your fork, take out the salmon. Does the fish have the skin? Bake it with the skin facing up.

When you have to turn the fillets and they're skin-down, lower the temperature

Step 6. Serve the salmon while it's still hot, but wait a few minutes for it to cool down a bit

Choose a refreshing, light accompaniment. How about some roasted vegetables like carrots and sweet potatoes, or peas and salad?
