Step 2. Boil the broth

Cook the rice with the broth over high heat until it starts to bubble. Stir sometimes during this stage to keep the rice from sticking to the pan.

Lower the heat, leaving it on low, and cover the rice. Let the mixture simmer until the rice absorbs plenty of water and has a softer texture.

  • Let the cooked rice rest for five minutes with the lid on, then open and release the grains.

Step 1. Boil the water and rice

Mix rice with water at a ratio of 2/3 cups of rice to 300 ml of water. Cook over high heat until water starts to boil.

Step 2. Boil for 35 to 45 minutes

Reduce heat to low and cover pan. Let the water simmer until the rice absorbs what it needs to cook and is tender but not sticky.

Step 3. Add seasonings to rice

Place 1 tablespoon soy sauce, ½ teaspoon dried basil, ¼ to ½ tablespoon powdered ginger, and 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper onto the cooked rice. Let the beans sit for five minutes covered, then loosen with a fork.

  • You can also season rice with other herbs and spices, depending on your taste. These seasonings vary greatly depending on the type of recipe you are going to make or what pleases your taste buds.
