Many recipes also include, in addition to onions and tomatoes, mushrooms, celery and other ingredients, but you - if you want - can prepare the dish without any accompaniment. See how to make a simple variation of this dish in the steps below (this traditional recipe makes four servings).


  • 450g of flank steak or ribeye, sliced ​​or in steaks (you can now ask the butcher to cut the meat for you);
  • 3 tablespoons of soy sauce;
  • 1 tablespoon of rice wine;
  • 3 chopped garlic cloves;
  • 1 teaspoon of sugar;
  • 1 tablespoon of cornstarch;
  • 2 sliced ​​peppers;
  • 1 medium onion, sliced ​​into rings;
  • 12 cherry tomatoes cut in half. If not available, use two common tomatoes;
  • 1 tablespoon of cooking oil for frying.

Step 1. Cut the steak

Slice the steak into small, one-centimeter strips in the best “strogonof” style (you can also buy the sliced ​​steak.)

Add - in the pan - the meat that has rested in the seasoning and fry it evenly.

  • Don't mess with the meat too much, let it seal. Occasionally, just flip the pieces for a more even frying.
  • This won't take more than a few minutes, but it all depends on how thick you cut the pieces of meat from the mince. If you preferred larger pieces, calibrate the heat and fry a little more

Step 3. Separate the fried meat

Place the fried meat on a plate or container. Leave it aside for now, but keep it warm.

It's up to you: either you can fry the vegetables in the meat fat or - if you want a healthier alternative - drain the fat from the pan before proceeding;

Step 4. Fry the peppers and onion

Add another tablespoon of cooking oil (or olive oil) to the skillet and fry over medium heat until the pepper and onion are crispy.

Mix the peppers and onions continuously for three or four minutes. The pepper should appear more tender, and the onion should start to look translucent;

Once the peppers and onions have finished frying, return the meat to the pan and stir quickly to mix it with the vegetables.
