If your stove is broken or you just don't want to wash another pan, how about making scrambled eggs in the microwave? Although the end result is not so light and loose, the eggs will be ready in the blink of an eye. And, as you will prepare them on the plate, the volume of dishes to be washed will be much smaller.
- 2 eggs.
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) of milk, light cream or water.
- Salt and pepper to taste.
Serves 1 serving.
Method 1 of 2: Microwave Eggs
Step 1. Grease a microwave-safe plate or mug
Rub a little butter or oil on the bottom of a plate or mug, or spray the container with a non-stick spray. The fat will prevent the eggs from sticking to the bottom of the plate.
To make a sandwich, prefer a mug. This way, the eggs will be in a small, circular shape
Step 2. Break two eggs in the plate or mug and add a tablespoon (15 ml) of milk
Use light cream to make the scrambled eggs creamier or water if you prefer to leave dairy products out of the recipe.
Try preparing eggs with some type of vegetable milk, such as soy, hemp or almond milk
you can crack three or four eggs to make a large portion of scrambled eggs, but don't microwave more than four at once.
Step 3. Beat eggs with salt and pepper until uniform
With a fork or fouet, beat eggs for ten to 20 seconds and add salt and pepper to taste.
Beat eggs until well combined with whites and yolks. Do not let too much air into the mixture. Otherwise the eggs will swell in the microwave too much
Step 4. Microwave eggs for one and a half to two minutes, stirring frequently
Place the uncapped container in the microwave and heat the eggs on full power. Every 30 seconds, stop the microwave and stir the eggs well.
At the end of cooking, the eggs should be firm, without any liquid parts
Step 5. Take the plate out of the microwave and eat the scrambled eggs warm
Open the microwave and, with a pair of kitchen gloves, carefully remove the hot plate. Stir the eggs one more time to loosen them and eat them straight off the plate or transfer them to a tray.
Store leftovers in a container with a lid and refrigerate for up to three or four days
Method 2 of 2: Experiencing Variations
Step 1. Add cheese to eggs to make them creamy
Stop the microwave about a minute before the eggs are finished cooking and add a handful of grated or crushed cheese to the mixture. Try using cheddar, parmesan, feta, goat or whatever you prefer.
- If you forget to add cheese to liquid eggs, spread the grated cheese over the hard-boiled eggs before eating them. To melt the cheese, microwave the eggs for another five to ten seconds.
- To make the scrambled eggs even creamier, add a few scoops of cream cheese or cottage cheese to the mixture before you microwave it.
Step 2. Add cooked meat to eggs to make them extra tasty
Eggs will cook super-fast in the microwave. Therefore, the meat you add to the mixture should already be cooked. Try adding a handful of bacon, ham, sausage or sausage pieces to your eggs 30 seconds before they are finished cooking.
To add a smoky touch to eggs, try adding bits of smoked salmon or trout to the mix
You can either buy the pre-cooked bacon or cook it in the microwave before making the scrambled eggs.
Step 3. Make a quick egg sandwich for lunch or dinner
Spoon the scrambled eggs onto toast. Then top them with sliced bacon, tomato or avocado. Spread a little mayonnaise on the other toast for a finishing touch.
- You can also use roasted sweet bald or hamburger buns to make the sandwich.
- If you've prepared the eggs in a mug, just turn it upside down on top of the bread.
Step 4. Prepare an American breakfast in the microwave
Prepare a cup (210 g) of hash brown style potatoes. The recipe can easily be found on the internet. Then break two eggs over them and stir with a fork. Microwave the mixture for a minute and a half to two minutes or until the eggs are completely cooked.
- Remember to stop the microwave every 30 seconds to stir the eggs.
- You can also add chopped vegetables to eggs instead of potatoes. Try using, for example, red peppers or chopped onions.
Step 5. Cover eggs with fresh herbs to accentuate the flavor
Chop your favorite fresh herbs and sprinkle them over the scrambled eggs just before eating them. Try using dill, basil, parsley or chives to give your eggs more potency.
- If you don't have fresh herbs on hand, add dried herbs to your eggs before you microwave them.
- You can also add a little pesto sauce to ready-made eggs. Just remember that this can make them slightly greenish.
Step 6. Serve the scrambled eggs with Mexican parsley or your favorite sauce
Don't worry if you don't have time to add ingredients to eggs before cooking them. You can always season them when eating. Finish the dish with a few drops of pepper sauce, ketchup or soy sauce, or a spoonful of Mexican salsa or fresh pico de gallo.
