An origami box, also called a masu box, has a functional and beautiful simplicity. All that is needed to make it is a square piece of paper. The ready-made box becomes a good place to hide small treasures. With two boxes you can use one as a box and the other as a lid to wrap small gifts. Read on to learn how to make a box of folded paper.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Making Structural Bends

Step 1. Start with a square piece of paper
You can use origami paper or fold any diagonally around the corners and cut off the excess. It is important that the paper is square, as it will make a box.

Step 2. Fold the paper in half
Reinforce the fold line with your finger and then open the paper again.

Step 3. Fold the paper in half on the other diagonal
Use your finger to reinforce the fold and open the paper again. It should now have two lines that meet in the center of the square.

Step 4. Bring the ends to the center so that they all meet
Reinforce the folds with your fingers. Rotate the paper so that it forms a square in front of you, but don't unfold it this time.

Step 5. Fold the top and bottom ends to the center of the square
Reinforce the folds so they are secure.

Step 6. Unfold the square on one side
Unfold the folds in half and the triangles under them. Leave the side triangles bent.

Step 7. Fold the long edges to the center
Fold the base of the triangles that are still folded. Reinforce the fold at the bottom edge. The paper should now look like a double-ended tie.
Method 2 of 2: Creating the Box Walls

Step 1. Reinforce the folds
In these instructions, the diamond furthest away from you formed by the “tie” will be the head and the diamond closest to you, the foot. Align the bottom of your foot with your head. Now align the top of your foot with your head. Reinforce the creases on the longer sides to solidify them.

Step 2. Create the side walls of the box
Pull the tabs up on the side to create them.

Step 3. With the side walls assembled, build the “head” wall
As you lift it, the folds made earlier will form two triangle-shaped flaps; fold them inwards. Do this before moving on. The head wall will fold over these triangle-shaped corners and the top triangle of the head will easily fit into the base, where it must be well reinforced on the sides to keep the box mounted. After pressing it is possible to see a triangle at the base of the box.

Step 4. Repeat the process on the other end to make the foot wall
Try to keep the folds straight and not wrinkled.

Step 5. Finished
Tips
- For best results, bend straight. At each fold, line up the edge or corner with any point you need to meet carefully, and then firmly reinforce the fold.
- If the paper is colored on one side, fold it so that the colored part is facing down at the beginning.
- Put some glue on the base of the triangular tabs to hold them in place (or use masking tape).
- Make a lid by folding another box in the same way.
- Use diagonal folds along with straight lines when starting (it will help a lot in the end).
Notices
- Don't put anything too heavy in the box or it will come apart. Remember it is made of paper.
- Be careful not to cut yourself with the paper.
