According to Hindu and Buddhist beliefs, the chakras (or chakras) are vast (but limited and confined) energy points in the body, responsible for governing our psychological qualities. There are seven main points in total: four in the upper part of the body, responsible for mental properties, and three in the lower part, which control instinctual properties. Are they:
The Muladhara chakra (generic or basic). The Swadhistana (splenic) chakra. The Manipura chakra (umbilical or gastric). The Anahata (heart) chakra. The Visuddha (laryngeal) chakra. The Ajna (front) chakra. The Sahasrara (coronary) chakra.
According to Hindu and Buddhist philosophies, all of them should contribute to the well-being of the human being. In other words: instincts must join forces with feelings and thoughts. Some of them tend not to open up completely (operating as if the person were a newborn), but others are very or even inactive. When there is no balance, the spirit cannot find peace.
Read this article to discover the art of studying the chakras and learn techniques for opening them.
Steps
Step 1. Understand that you don't need to try to reduce the activity level of some chakras just because you want to open others
They're just making up for others' inactivity. When everyone is open, the energy stabilizes and is balanced.
Step 2. Open the base chakra (red)
This chakra is about physical awareness and the feeling of comfort in everyday situations. When it is open, a person is balanced and sensible, stable and secure, in addition to stopping bothering others for no reason, living in the present and being "aware" of his physical body. When there is a low level of activity, the person becomes scared or nervous, as if they think that no one wants them around. Finally, when hyperactive, a person becomes materialistic, greedy, and unscrupulous.
-
Use your body more attentively. Do yoga, walk or clean the house. These activities help to strengthen the chakra.
-
Feel the ground under your feet. To do this, straighten your back, place your feet parallel to your shoulders, and bend your knees slightly. Project your groin forward a little and distribute the weight throughout your body. Then throw it forward and stay in this position for a few minutes.
-
Then sit cross-legged as shown in the image below.
-
Touch your thumb and forefinger lightly, as if you were going to meditate.
-
Focus on the base chakra, between the groin and anus, and what it represents.
- Repeat the word "LAM" mentally but clearly.
- Meanwhile, relax your body, think about the chakra, what it means, and how it affects your life.
- Continue until you completely relax and feel "clean".
-
Visualize a closed red flower. Imagine strong energy coming out of it and the petals slowly opening.
-
Breathe in and out while contracting the perineum.
Step 3. Open the splenic chakra (orange)
It has to do with feelings and sexuality. When open, the person is able to express what he feels without being too emotional: he is open to acts of affinity and can be fervent and extroverted, in addition to having no problems with sexuality. When not active enough, the person is apathetic or impassive and closed off to others. Finally, when he is hyperactive, the person is sensitive and emotional all the time, in addition to having a voracious sexual appetite.
-
Sit on your knees, with your back straight but relaxed.
-
Place your hands in your lap, palms up, one on top of the other. The left hand should be underneath, touching the fingers of the right.
-
Focus on the splenic chakra, the lower back, and what it represents.
- Repeat the word "VAM" mentally but clearly.
- Meanwhile, relax your body, think about the chakra, what it means, and how it affects your life.
- Continue until you completely relax and feel a little "cleaner".
Step 4. Open the umbilical chakra (yellow)
This chakra has to do with trust, especially when we are in a group. When it's open, a person feels in control and self-assured. When there is little activity, the person is passive, indecisive and apprehensive - which does no good. Finally, when she is hyperactive, she is haughty and aggressive.
-
Sit on your knees, with your back straight but relaxed.
-
Place your hands on your belly, just below your solar plexus. Bring your fingers together and point them away from the body. Cross your thumbs and stretch the rest (this is important).
-
Focus on the umbilical chakra, just above the navel, and what it represents.
- Repeat the word "RAM" mentally but clearly.
- In the meantime, relax even more and keep thinking about the chakra, what it means, and how it affects your life.
- Continue until you completely relax until you feel "clean" (as with all chakras).
Step 5. Open the heart chakra (green)
This chakra is about love, affection and affection. When open, the person is friendly and supportive and has good relationships with others. When she is at a low level of activity, she is cold and unsympathetic. Finally, when hyperactive, the person becomes so "friendly" that they end up smothering others, giving the image of being needy and selfish.
-
Sit down and cross your legs.
-
Touch the tips of your thumbs and forefingers.
-
Place your left hand on the knee on the same side and your right hand on the underside of the sternum.
-
Focus on the heart chakra, the height of the heart, and what it represents.
- Repeat the word "YAM" mentally but clearly.
- In the meantime, keep relaxing and thinking about the chakra, what it means, and how it affects your life.
- Keep this up until you completely relax and feel even "cleaner" than before.
Step 6. Open the throat chakra (light blue)
It has to do with self-expression and communication. When it's open, the person has no difficulty in expressing themselves (through art, for example). When not very active, the person does not talk as much and gives the impression of being shy. Chakra is blocked in those who lie a lot. Finally, when he is hyperactive, the person talks a lot and becomes irritating, as if he were not a good listener.
-
Sit down on your knees.
-
Cross your fingers inside your hands, but without your thumbs. Touch them from above.
-
Focus on the throat chakra, at the base of the throat, and what it represents.
- Repeat the word "HAM" mentally but clearly.
- In the meantime, keep relaxing and thinking about the chakra, what it means, and how it affects your life.
- Keep doing this for about five minutes or until you feel "clean" again.
Step 7. Open the brow chakra (indigo blue)
The brow chakra is about vision. When it is open, the person is a psychic and usually dreams a lot. When there is not much activity, the person admires others and expects them to think for him - which leaves him confused. Finally, when he is hyperactive, the person lives in a world of imagination. In extreme cases, she has daydreams and even hallucinations.
-
Sit down and cross your legs.
-
Place your hands in front of your lower chest, with your middle fingers outstretched and away from your body and the others bent and touching the upper phalanges and thumbs pointing toward you.
-
Focus on the forehead chakra, in the middle of the forehead, and what it represents.
- Repeat the word "OM" or "AUM" mentally but clearly.
- In the meantime, continue to relax your body naturally and think about the chakra, what it represents, and how it affects your life.
- Keep this up until you feel even "cleaner".
Step 8. Open the crown chakra (violet)
This is the seventh chakra - and the most spiritual of all. It has to do with wisdom and union with the universe. When it's open, the person shows no signs of prejudice and becomes more aware of their role in the world. When there is little activity, the person is not as spiritual and may even be rigid in their thinking. Finally, when hyperactive, a person tends to intellectualize everything. Spirituality seems to come first (to the point where the individual ignores basic human needs such as food and rest).
- Sit down and cross your legs.
-
Put your hand on your stomach. Point your pinkies away and cross the other fingers with your left thumb under your right.
-
Focus on the crown chakra at the top of your head and what it represents.
- Repeat the expression "NG" (yes, it's harder than the others) mentally, but clearly.
- In the meantime, relax your whole body and mind, but without losing concentration.
- This is the longest of the meditations and needs at least ten minutes.
- Caution: Do not meditate with your crown chakra if your base chakra is weak or closed. Before that, you need to have a solid "foundation" - and this is where exercises come in handy.
Tips
- Don't meditate too much if you don't have experience.
- Try to meditate every day, even for a short time.
- When activating the brow chakra, rub your forehead in a light circular motion.
- Go to a calm, comfortable place and do the above exercises as part of your meditation. On hot days, sit in a park or garden; on cold days, go somewhere warmer and free from distractions. If you have access to a sauna, use it to follow the steps.
