In the FireRed and LeafGreen Pokémon games (as well as the first ones in the series, the Red and Blue games), Saffron City is a big, bustling city where Sabrina, master of psychic Pokémon, awaits. There are many reasons to visit Saffron; It houses the sixth gym of the Kanto League, the Dojo, the Silph Co. headquarters and much more! Whether you're a newbie trying to get to town for the first time or a Pokémon master looking to take a different path, don't worry; Saffron City is a pretty easy place to go!
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Getting the "Tea Drink"

Step 1. Go to Celadon City
To get to Saffron City, you first need to go back to Celadon City. As a reminder, it's the city where there's a 6-story department store and where Erica, the master of Pokemon plants, is the gym leader. Celadon is located west of Saffron, connected by Route Seven.
If you have a Pokemon with the ability "Fly" (HM02), you can simply fly to Celadon City. Otherwise, get there via Fuchsia City, the Bike Tunnel (Route 17) or Lavender Town via the Underground Path

Step 2. Enter Celadon's mansion
Upon arrival in Celadon City, visit Celadon's mansion. This building, located next to the city's Pokemon Center, is where you probably won an Eevee.

Step 3. Talk to the "Old Lady"
On the first floor of the mansion you should find an elderly lady. She is seated at a table at the top left of the entrance. Talk to her.

Step 4. Receive the "Tea Drink"
The lady should give you the item "Tea Drink", which is needed to enter Saffron City. Congratulations!
As you are already in Celadon's mansion, take the opportunity to go to the second floor of the place, where you can find information about Erica, the leader of the gym in Saffron City. This is necessary if you are trying to complete the "Fame Checker" side mission
Method 2 of 3: Arriving in Saffron City

Step 1. Head east towards Route Seven
After getting the "Tea Drink", you need to exit Celadon, passing through the east part (right side of the screen). It's not mandatory to heal your Pokemon in Celadon Center, but it's not a bad idea; there are no enemy trainers on Route Seven.

Step 2. Go through the entrance to Saffron City
Route Seven is very short and safe compared to other routes; all you need to do to get to the entrance to Saffron City is go south and then east (down and to the right). Jump or descend the rise and enter the building on the side.
In fact, the only way to enter a battle on Route Seven is to walk through the tall grass just above the path you need to take. However, it's not something necessary to get to Saffron City

Step 3. Talk to the officer
Inside the guardhouse you will see a policeman. Previously, it would block your access to the city. But now you should talk and give him tea. After you drink, the officer will let you through without a problem.
Congratulations! Exit the building on the right and you've arrived in Saffron City
Method 3 of 3: Visiting Saffron City Later

Step 1. Fly to Saffron City
After visiting Saffron for the first time, the simplest way to get back there in the future is to use the "Fly" skill. Just have a Pokemon with this technique and basically you can instantly reach Saffron from anywhere in Kanto.
To fly to Saffron, select a Flying-type Pokemon that knows the ability "Fly" in your Pokemon menu. Choose the skill and select Saffron City on the map, which is right in the center of the "cross" to the east of the map

Step 2. Walk to Saffron City
If you don't have a Pokemon with the ability "Fly" or want to gain some extra experience, you can walk to Saffron City. There are several ways to do this, as Saffron is located in the center of 4 other cities. See below how to get there from each of them:
- From the North: Starting in Cerulean City, head south past Route Five. Note that the north end of the Underground Path will lead to Route Five.
- From the south: Starting in Vermillion City, head north along the winding path of Route Six. Note that the south end of the Underground Path leads to Route Six.
- From the East: Starting in Lavender Town, head west, following the path through Route Eight. Note that the end of the Underground Path will end on Route Eight.
- From West: Use Route Seven as described above.

Step 3. Cycle to Saffron City
If you don't have a Pokemon with "Fly" and want to get to Saffron as quickly as possible, using the bike is probably the best option. With it, you can use any land route listed above, but with a much higher speed.
