Banana chips are tasty slices of bananas that have been preserved fried, baked, dehydrated or microwaved. The taste is slightly different depending on how they are made. This article will show you how to prepare this delicacy in different ways.

- Juice of 1 to 2 lemons.
- Favorite seasoning (cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, etc.).
Steps
Method 1 of 5: Baked Banana Chips
Step 1. Preheat oven to 90°C
The low temperature does the dehydrating effect rather than actually baking. Prepare the baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper or a silicone sheet.
Step 2. Peel the banana
Cut into thin slices of the same size so that the bananas cook evenly.
Step 3. Arrange the slices on the baking sheet
Put them in a single layer and leave space between them.
Step 4. Drizzle the squeezed lemon juice over the banana slices
This helps prevent the fruit from browning and gives it a different taste.
Step 5. Place the baking sheet in the oven
Bake for 1 hour at 1:45. After an hour, experiment to see if you like the consistency; if you don't like it, continue baking.
Baking time will depend on the thickness of the slices
Step 6. Remove from oven
Let cool. Banana chips will likely be soft and mushy, but as they cool they will harden.
Method 2 of 5: Fried Banana Chips
Step 1. Peel the bananas
Put them in ice water.
Step 2. Cut the bananas into equal slices
Put them back in the water as you peel them. Add turmeric powder.
Step 3. Leave in water for 10 minutes
Then drain and place the banana on a clean cloth to remove moisture.
Step 4. Heat the oil
Dip a few slices to fry (don't put too many bananas in the oil at once). Use a slotted spoon to place and remove the slices.
Step 5. Repeat until all slices have been fried
Step 6. Drain slices on paper towels
Step 7. Allow to cool
When they are cold they can be served or stored. To store chips, place in a sealed container such as a glass jar or zip-lock bags.
Method 3 of 5: Sweet Fried Banana Chips
Step 1. Peel the bananas
Put them in lightly salted ice water for 10 minutes (the salt will melt the ice quickly, but the water will stay cool).
Step 2. Cut the bananas into thin, equal slices
Step 3. Arrange the banana slices on a metal rack
Let it dry slightly to remove moisture.
Step 4. Heat the oil
Add the banana slices in small amounts and fry for about 2 minutes until golden. Use a slotted spoon to place and remove the slices.
Step 5. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels
Step 6. Make the sugar syrup
Mix the two types of sugar, water and cinnamon in a small saucepan. Cook over low heat until sugar dissolves and is syrupy. Turn off the fire.
Step 7. Dip the fried chips in the sugar syrup
Stir to cover well.
Step 8. Place the banana on the parchment-lined grid
Let cool.
Step 9. Serve or store
Place in a hermetically sealed container.
Method 4 of 5: Microwave salty banana chips
Step 1. Place the whole, unpeeled bananas in a pan
Cover with water and bring to a boil for 10 minutes.
Step 2. Remove from water and allow to cool
Step 3. Peel the bananas
Cut into thin slices and the same size for them to cook evenly in the microwave.
Step 4. Coat the banana with the oil and turmeric powder
Add salt to taste.
Step 5. Distribute the slices on a flat plate or microwaveable serving dish
Put them in a single layer and leave space between them.
Step 6. Place in microwave
Power on high power for 8 minutes.
- Every two minutes, stop the microwave, remove the plate, and turn the slices over. This ensures even cooking on both sides.
- Be extra careful in the last 2 minutes to prevent the banana chips from burning.
Step 7. Remove from microwave
Let it cool and they will be crispy.
Step 8. Serve
Place chips in small bowl. To store, place in a container with a lid.
Method 5 of 5: Seasoned Banana Chips
This method requires the use of a dehydrator.
Step 1. Peel the bananas
Cut into thin slices; the thinner, the more crunchy.
Step 2. Arrange slices in dehydrator
Put them in a single layer and leave space between them.
Step 3. Drizzle the top of the slices with a little squeezed lemon juice
Then sprinkle the bananas with your favorite spice. If possible, use fresh seasoning, such as freshly grated nutmeg or buy the ingredient fresh.
Step 4. Dehydrate at 57°C for 24 hours
Chips are ready when they are lightly browned and completely dry.
Step 5. Place on a metal wire rack and allow to cool
Step 6. Store or serve
For storage, place in a container with a lid, such as a glass jar or in food storage bags that can be sealed. They can be kept for up to a year.
Tips
- Ice water can simply be a bowl of water with several ice cubes. Use a metal bowl to cool it further.
- Banana chips can be kept for quite a while if they're in an airtight container, but don't take too long to eat them as they taste better when they're fresh.
